Job Description

Posted on: May 11, 2025

Company Overview:

We have an incredible opportunity to join a chartered accountancy firm that has experienced significant growth in its first few years. The firm works exclusively with UK marketing and communications agencies. You will benefit from helping to shape the growth of the business and developing personally. Our expertise lies in delivering bespoke accounting and finance services that cater to the unique demands of our clients, enabling them to thrive in a competitive landscape.

Despite being a young firm, we've implemented robust systems, processes, and core values akin to more established practices. We are selective about the clients we work with, focusing on fewer but higher-value partnerships.

Role Overview:

We're seeking a proactive, solution-oriented individual who constantly looks for smarter and more efficient ways to work.

You will be an enthusiastic and experienced Client Manager/Senior Accountant and invaluable support to the founder. You will manage and foster client relationships, ensuring their requirements are met with the highest standards of service and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management

• Act as a point of contact for our portfolio of marketing and communications sector clients, responding in a timely matter to queries.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and goals.

• Advising clients of their personal tax, corporation tax, VAT, payroll and P11D liabilities and payment dates.

Service Delivery

• Work on monthly and quarterly information packs tailored to the marcomms industry, including planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Providing tax and accounting advice to your clients.

• Reviewing annual statutory accounts and corporation tax returns for limited companies.

• Reviewing and sometimes preparing quarterly VAT returns.

• Assistance in the preparation of monthly fixed salary payrolls.

Service Coordination and Delivery

• Oversee the delivery of accounting and financial reporting services to clients, ensuring precision and timeliness.

• Coordinate with and guide the junior accountant and bookkeeper.

• Ensure all client work adheres to the highest quality and compliance standards.

Business Development

• Identify opportunities to expand services within the existing client base and support client retention.

Team Leadership and Development

• Mentor and support junior team members, encouraging a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

• Provide training on technical issues and industry-specific financial challenges and solutions.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified — or qualified by experience with the right track record.

• At least 5 years experience in a client facing role within an accountancy practice

• A mix of practice and industry (especially the marketing and communications sector) is a bonus but not essential.

• Confident in managing client relationships and giving advice, not just doing the numbers

• Experience working with clients in the marketing and communications industry is a big plus but not essential.

Skills & Attributes

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, showing confidence in dealing with accounting and tax affairs.

• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities, managing your workload without micro-management or close supervision.

• Teamwork – the ability to get on well with team members and having a helpful nature to get stuck into whatever is required.

• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset - always wanting to learn more, finding ways of working smarter and more efficiently.

• Technical competence – an in-depth knowledge of accounting, VAT and tax standards and pro-actively keeping up to date with CPD requirements.

• Proficient in accounting software. We use Xero, Dext Prepare, TaxCalc, the MS Office Suite, Client Engager, Fathom and Inform Direct.

• Align with our core values below.

Benefits:

  • A salary of up to £50,000, dependent on experience.
  • Discretionary bonuses are based on company and individual performance.
  • 25 days holiday + UK bank holidays (we close between Christmas and the New Year). The holiday allowance increases with service.
  • Benefits including 24/7 access to a GP and Mental Health advice, discounts and more.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • Access to a leading CPD provider.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a supportive work environment.
  • Work from home or anywhere in the UK.
  • All equipment provided.
  • Away days/in-person meetups with all expenses covered.

Our Core Values:

Teamwork - We show we care, helping and supporting each other to be the best we can be. We get better and more efficient by learning and sharing knowledge.

Excellence - We strive for excellence and always have the best interests of our clients. We won’t cut corners or compromise the quality of our work.

Client Success - The measure of our success is in the success of our clients. We’re not just in the business of processing our clients’ numbers, we partner with them as an extension of their agency to provide insights and help them progress with a forward-looking view.

Client Communication - We are not the once a year accountants. We have regular contact with our clients, from assisting them with ad-hoc queries to helping them understand the performance and health of their business.

Innovation - We encourage creativity and continuous improvement. We accept that there can be a better or more efficient way to do something without compromise, whether through process improvement or implementing new software.

Equal Opportunity Employer:

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Please do not apply for this role unless you have a right to work in the UK and relevant experience. We cannot sponsor an employment visa for non-UK/EU settled status applicants.
