Job Description

Posted on: May 5, 2026

Aurora surfaces a small number of roles each month โ€” ones we'd take ourselves.

Senior Full Stack Engineer

  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ $190K โ€“ $220K base
  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Pre-IPO equity at a $1B valuation
  • ๐Ÿ“ Remote โ€” US or Canada (excluding Quebec)

The company

Independent restaurants are losing. Not because their food isn't great โ€” because Domino's has spent billions on tech that chains wins online, and the neighborhood taqueria is fighting with its bare hands.

We are the all-in-one platform that changes that: AI-powered websites, commission-free ordering, branded mobile apps, automated marketing, loyalty, and CRM โ€” all in one system. Think Shopify meets HubSpot, built specifically for restaurants.

10,000+ restaurants on the platform. Guests convert at 2x the industry rate. Restaurants grow traffic 30% within their first 30 days. We've multiplied ARR every year since founding and are approaching $100M โ€” with 83% of growth driven by AI products. We hit $15M ARR with 5 engineers.

We raised $120M in Series C in May 2025 at a $1B valuation โ€” co-led by Meritech (who led DoorDash's Series B) and Headline (who led Toast's Series C). Strategic backers include the founders of HubSpot, Figma, Instacart, Sweetgreen, and Cava. Within 6 days of opening the data room, we had 6 offers to lead the round.

The role

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer (5+ YOE) to own significant product surface โ€” from conception to shipping โ€” across the platform that 10,000 restaurants depend on every day.

There is no PM between you and the product decisions. You'll work directly with engineering leadership, talk to customers, and have full ownership over what gets built and how.

The bar is high by design: our application-to-offer rate is 0.22%. One engineer here solo-built our restaurant mobile app generator in under 3 months โ€” it now powers 6,000+ apps. Four engineers built our Point of Sale from zero to live in 8 weeks. At a typical company, those take 10โ€“12 months and teams of 6โ€“8.

Compensation

  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ $190K โ€“ $220K base
  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Pre-IPO equity at a $1B valuation
  • ๐Ÿ“ Remote โ€” US or Canada (excluding Quebec)
  • ๐Ÿ›‚ Visa sponsorship available; H1B transfers for exceptional candidates

What you'll build

AI executives for restaurants โ€” AI CMO, CFO, and CTO products: agents that monitor sales, run campaigns, adjust menus on the fly, and talk to owners in plain language. You'll build what they run on.

Branded mobile app generator โ€” Takes a restaurant's identity and ships a fully functional white-labeled ordering app. One engineer built v1 in 3 months. 6,000+ apps live. You'll build what comes next.

Conversion and ordering engine โ€” Our websites convert at 2x the competition. That's an engineering outcome. You'll own the surfaces that drive it.

Marketing automation at scale โ€” AI-powered email, loyalty, and re-engagement flows running automatically for 10,000+ restaurants. Personal at scale.

Stack

TypeScript everywhere โ€” React, Next.js, Vue (frontend) ยท Node.js (backend) ยท React Native (mobile) ยท MongoDB ยท AWS

We chose TypeScript across the stack because context-switching between languages is a tax we don't pay. One codebase powering 6,000+ apps is a fundamentally different outcome than two.

Who we're looking for

  • You've shipped end-to-end without a PM writing your requirements
  • Your best work came from a problem you spotted yourself
  • You've debugged a production incident and came out with a changed mental model, not just a patch
  • You think in systems โ€” you trace second and third-order effects before you deploy
  • You've worked with LLMs seriously enough to know where they fail
  • You treat bugs as trust withdrawals, not technical debt

Strong CS fundamentals or equivalent practical depth. We care about how you think, not where you studied.

Why now

We hit unicorn status in May 2025. We're growing ~3x year over year, with 83% of that growth coming from AI. The roadmap doesn't stop at restaurants โ€” the vision is to become the operating system for every local business. Engineers who join now will shape what that becomes. The equity reflects where we are: pre-$100M ARR, post-proof.

If you want to own a category while it's being defined โ€” this is the role.

This is not for you if

  • You want well-defined tickets and a clear swim lane
  • You prefer to stay away from product and customer context
  • You need a large team to feel like your contributions matter
  • You're skeptical that AI is a genuine platform shift for local businesses

Interview process

  1. Recruiter screen โ€” Motivation, values, technical background (30 min)
  2. Coding interview โ€” TypeScript/JavaScript (60 min)
  3. Full round โ€” Systems design ยท Project deep dive ยท Teamwork (3 ร— 60 min)
  4. SVP of Engineering โ€” Reference checks
  5. CEO conversation โ€” Final round

We move fast. Typically 2โ€“3 weeks end to end.

We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
