TeKnowledge Announces Major Workforce Reduction
TeKnowledge, a leading global cybersecurity and AI company, is eliminating 324 tech jobs in Colorado Springs, as confirmed by a recent filing with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. This move represents a significant reduction in the company's Colorado workforce, cutting it by approximately half.
Reasons Behind the Layoffs
According to company spokesman Iman Ghorayeb, the decision stems from shifts in the technology industry, including changing priorities and demand. In an emailed statement, he explained, "We are realigning aspects of our operations to better reflect evolving client needs. Unfortunately, this includes changes to our workforce structure."
About TeKnowledge
Founded in 2010, TeKnowledge (formerly known as Tek Experts) is a privately-held firm with over 6,000 employees across 19 global locations, including Nigeria, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. While it doesn't have a single headquarters, Colorado Springs is one of its largest U.S. operating bases, previously employing over 600 workers. The company specializes in cybersecurity, operations automation, online training, and agentic AI—an emerging field where AI systems assist or replace human agents in roles like customer service.
Impacted Positions and Timeline
The job cuts affect TeKnowledge OPS USA Inc., located at 1150 Kelly Johnson Blvd. in Colorado Springs. The layoffs, detailed in a WARN letter filed by Heraclio Perez Montenegro, HR director for the Americas, will occur between October 30 and December 30. Key roles being eliminated include:
- 120 stage two technical support engineers
- 41 reactive support managers
- 31 fintech analysts
Company's Response and Future Outlook
Ghorayeb emphasized the company's appreciation for the impacted employees, stating, "We deeply appreciate their contributions and are committed to supporting them with respect, care, and practical assistance." He added that TeKnowledge's focus on delivering AI-first technology services remains unchanged, and the company hopes to reconnect with former colleagues as new opportunities arise.
Despite the cuts, Colorado Springs is praised for its exceptional talent pool and supportive business environment. TeKnowledge will remain a top-10 technology employer in the area post-layoffs.
Broader Context
This news comes amid other regional economic shifts, such as the recent announcement by the Trump Administration to relocate the U.S. Space Command headquarters from Colorado Springs to Huntsville, Alabama, potentially costing the region 1,400 jobs and $1 billion annually.
