About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Backend Software Engineer to join our dedicated engineering team. In this fully remote role, you will be instrumental in delivering innovative improvements that enhance our engineering processes and product offerings. You will be responsible for addressing complex architectural challenges, leading technical initiatives, and mentoring junior engineers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale projects that impact millions of users globally. • 10+ years of experience in software or technology leadership roles with end-to-end responsibility throughout the software development lifecycle
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; advanced degrees preferred
• Expertise in one or more prominent programming languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala
• Hands-on experience with SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS platforms and public cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong understanding of trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, space, and time
• Proven ability to mentor engineers, influence decision-making, and lead technical initiatives
• Experience evaluating and implementing architectural standards and best practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and customer-centric decision-making approach

Responsibilities

• Regularly unblock challenges faced during the software development cycle, from technical design to deployment
• Create scalable solutions used by multiple teams and products; plan and execute large project initiatives
• Address and resolve complex architecture challenges, ensuring adherence to architectural standards
• Lead code reviews, maintain comprehensive documentation, and manage complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk issues
• Set and uphold standards for meaningful code reviews; collaborate across engineering teams on company-wide projects
• Transfer technical knowledge within your expertise to elevate team capabilities and performance
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
• Evaluate technical trade-offs and make informed decisions that prioritize customer impact and system robustness
