About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our fully remote, high-ownership team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in building and scaling our SaaS platform’s backend infrastructure, LLM-driven services, and internal tools. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with founders and influence the technical architecture of our AI-powered recruiting engine. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying secure, scalable backend services that power our core products. Your expertise will help optimize AI/ML integrations, enhance system reliability, and improve overall performance. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovation, possesses strong technical skills, and is eager to contribute to a fast-growing startup environment with long-term career growth potential, including a clear path to Tech Lead. Qualifications
- 3–5 years of backend development experience in a production environment
- Proficiency in Node.js with frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS
- Strong knowledge of MongoDB and scalable data modeling techniques
- Experience with Git, GitHub flow, and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker
- Experience working in fast-paced startup environments is a plus
- Understanding of RESTful and GraphQL API design and maintenance
- Knowledge of AI/ML service orchestration and prompt engineering is advantageous
- Experience with version control, testing frameworks, and deployment automation
Responsibilities
- Own and lead backend development for core products, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performance services
- Design, build, and deploy RESTful and GraphQL APIs used by client-facing and talent-facing applications
- Integrate and optimize large language model (LLM) features such as resume matching, job generation, and prompt pipelines
- Lead the development and maintenance of AI/ML service orchestration, including embedding pipelines and async job queues
- Implement monitoring, logging, and security best practices to ensure high availability and fast response times
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions and Docker for seamless deployment
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices within the team
- Take ownership of technical architecture decisions and contribute to strategic planning
