QA Tester / Automation Engineer

Role Description This is a part-time, remote role for a QA Tester / Automation Engineer. The role involves designing, executing, and maintaining test cases for web-based and internal applications that support solar asset tracking, processing, and reporting. Responsibilities include performing manual testing, validating new features and bug fixes, documenting test results, and collaborating with product, operations, and engineering teams to clarify requirements and reproduce issues. The QA Tester / Automation Engineer will contribute to building and refining automated test suites, monitoring test runs, and helping improve test coverage, reliability, and performance. The role also includes participating in test planning, suggesting process improvements, and helping ensure that releases meet quality, security, and usability standards.

Qualifications

• Quality and testing skills, including Quality Assurance, Manual Testing, and Test Execution.
• Test design skills, including creating, organizing, and maintaining Test Cases.
• Strong Analytical Skills for troubleshooting defects, interpreting test results, and validating complex workflows.
• Experience with test management or bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, or similar) and basic familiarity with test automation frameworks is preferred.
• Understanding of SDLC and QA best practices, including regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with distributed teams.
• Prior experience testing web applications, APIs, or data-driven systems; experience in recycling, sustainability, or solar/clean energy is a plus.
• Relevant education or equivalent practical experience in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related technical field is beneficial.
