Job Description

Posted on: May 2, 2025

We’re partnering with a fast-moving client that’s reimagining how Python developers build and ship software. This team is behind some of the fastest-growing tools in the Python ecosystem — beloved by the open-source community and built for speed, simplicity, and developer joy.

Now, they’re taking things a step further: launching their first hosted product. It’s a full-stack, greenfield opportunity that brings their open-source foundation to the cloud.

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t just a feature-shipping role — it’s a chance to influence the direction of a brand-new product from day one. You’ll work directly with a small, senior team (including the CEO) to prototype, ship, and scale a new offering built on top of widely adopted developer tools.

What You’ll Do

Depending on your strengths and interests, you might:

  • Architect and productionize the backend API
  • Stand up and iterate on a modern front-end stack
  • Design data models and build robust database schemas
  • Create and manage data pipelines
  • Shape the cloud infrastructure stack — from deployment to hosting to CDN strategies

This is classic startup engineering. You’ll be expected to move quickly, make smart tradeoffs, and invest deeply in the systems that matter most.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building full-stack web applications
  • Strong coding skills in Python and React
  • Comfort working across front-end and back-end systems
  • Experience shipping in fast-paced, product-focused environments
  • Excellent communication and async collaboration skills
  • Bonus: Experience with Rust (or a strong interest in learning it)

Who You Are

We’re looking for an engineer who thrives in ambiguity, works across the stack, and cares deeply about the craft of building software. You’re energized by ownership, comfortable in async collaboration, and excited to solve meaningful problems with a sharp, kind team.

The Team & Culture

  • Remote-first and async by design — spread from San Francisco to Munich
  • Low-meeting, high-trust environment with lots of heads-down building time
  • Twice-yearly team onsites
  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits
