About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to lead the front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, our sophisticated trading platform designed for experienced traders. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of trading infrastructure by driving performance improvements across web and mobile clients, mentoring a talented engineering team, and collaborating closely with product and engineering leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern front-end frameworks, low latency system design, and blockchain technology, enabling them to deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient trading interfaces. As a key technical leader, you will be instrumental in developing high-performance trading solutions that meet the demanding needs of professional traders while contributing to Coinbase’s core business objectives. Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on front-end development and mobile environments
• Proven expertise in modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
• Strong background in optimizing system performance, including rendering speed, network efficiency, and state management
• Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineering teams, including senior engineers
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with low latency trading systems and high-frequency trading infrastructure
• Familiarity with blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and onchain activity
• Experience decomposing monolithic architectures into microservices
• Proficiency with technologies including Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres
• Experience working in fast-growing organizations, scaling teams from small to large
• Crypto-forward mindset with knowledge of onchain interactions, ENS, dApps, and blockchain-based services

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define and execute a technical roadmap for a scalable, reliable trading platform
• Lead initiatives to develop low latency, high-performance trading interfaces across web and mobile platforms
• Drive system optimization efforts to enhance rendering performance, network utilization, and overall responsiveness
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support to engineering team members
• Anchor complex projects, ensuring adherence to high standards of code quality and system design
• Participate in architectural decisions, including microservices decomposition and infrastructure improvements
• Engage with blockchain and crypto-related functionalities, integrating onchain activity and dApps into the platform
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually improve platform capabilities
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
