Position Overview:
A mid-sized energy company is seeking a Full Stack Data Engineer to help design and deploy interactive data applications and reporting dashboards critical to commercial operations, trading, and asset management. This role requires strong command of Python and Streamlit, paired with experience in Snowflake data engineering.
This is a high-visibility role interfacing with traders, analysts, and operations leads to translate complex energy datasets into real-time tools that drive business insights and operational efficiency. Clear, confident communication is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain Streamlit dashboards used for real-time monitoring, asset performance tracking, and trading analytics.
- Design scalable data pipelines in Python that integrate market data, SCADA, pricing feeds, and operational metrics.
- Extract, transform, and load data from Snowflake for downstream analysis, visualization, and reporting.
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders across trading, risk, midstream, and operations to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Support rapid prototyping and iteration of new data tools for commercial and field operations teams.
- Apply best practices for version control, deployment, and performance optimization in a fast-paced energy environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years of experience in Python development, particularly in data-heavy or analytics-focused environments.
- Strong experience building enterprise-grade Streamlit apps for dashboards or internal tools.
- Proficiency with Snowflake including SQL, performance tuning, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with energy industry datasets such as market pricing (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, ICE), asset telemetry (e.g., SCADA), or trade capture systems.
- Experience integrating REST APIs and building modular, reusable codebases.
- Proven ability to collaborate across commercial and technical teams and explain complex topics clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in energy trading, power generation, oil & gas, or renewables.
- Understanding of market operations, scheduling, or regulatory reporting in energy.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and deployment of data apps.
- Experience with version control (Git), containers (Docker), and CI/CD workflows.
