About RoomReview

RoomReview is a UK-based PropTech startup focused on improving transparency and accountability in the rental market. The platform enables tenants to share verified property reviews, supports landlords in maintaining higher standards, and builds a more data-driven housing ecosystem.

We are currently developing and refining our MVP and are seeking a Full Stack Developer (Node.js & React) to join as a Community Contributor to support core product development.

Please note: This role is open to UK-based candidates only. This is an unpaid Community Contributor position

Role Overview

As a Community Contributor – Full Stack Developer, you will work closely with the development team and other technical contributors to build, refine, and scale the RoomReview web platform.

This role is suited to an early-career or mid-level developer seeking hands-on startup experience and the opportunity to contribute to a live MVP from a foundational stage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain frontend features using React.
• Build and manage backend services using Node.js.
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate Figma designs into production-ready interfaces.
• Implement secure authentication and user management systems.
• Work with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL or MongoDB) to support platform functionality.
• Ensure performance optimisation, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and iterative product improvements.

Requirements

• Strong experience with React (hooks, state management, component architecture).
• Solid experience with Node.js and backend API development.
• Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of authentication, security best practices, and GDPR awareness.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• UK-based and eligible to work in the UK.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or early-stage startups is advantageous.
