Our client is seeking a Data Engineer for their rapidly growing healthcare organization. You will work to build, optimize, and maintain data systems that drive critical insights for our client. You will leverage your expertise in data engineering to design robust data pipelines, optimize data flows, and ensure the integrity and efficiency of our data processing. Your ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively is key to the success of this role.

This is a 100% remote role. Candidates must be willing to work within the Eastern Time Zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure efficient processing and accessibility of large-scale datasets.
  • Design and maintain accurate and performant data marts to support reporting and analytics.
  • Apply best practices for building scalable, modular data architectures and designing efficient data flows.
  • Optimize queries and data processes for performance, particularly for large and complex datasets.
  • Build fully automated and configurable data pipeline workflows to ensure minimal manual intervention.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and orchestration of data workflows within a shared environment to ensure timely and consistent data delivery.
  • Implement and manage data quality controls, including error logging, data validation, and automated alerts, to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Regularly monitor data systems and troubleshoot any issues related to data integrity or process failures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the quality of the data being processed and stored.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all data systems, pipelines, and processes to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment of data engineering projects with business objectives.
  • Regularly update documentation to reflect changes in processes, data models, and system designs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of hands-on data engineering experience in designing and maintaining data systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as Databricks, AWS, or Azure, and related tools (e.g., SSMS).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, SQL, or similar tools to support data manipulation and automation.
  • Strong experience with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data systems, standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and data governance practices preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Creative, self-motivated, and adaptable in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
