Full Stack Tech Lead (12 Month Engagement)

Part-Time | Contract or Permanent | Remote Work From Sydney

A venture-backed Australian startup operating in the healthcare and AI space is looking for an experienced AI Tech Lead to take ownership of an established platform as it enters its next phase of growth. The product is already live, being used by real customers, and has moved beyond the initial build stage.

Over the next 12 months, the focus will be on maintaining platform stability, improving existing functionality, refining AI capabilities, and providing technical leadership while the business prepares to scale its engineering team.

We are open to either:

• A contractor (2–3 days per week)
• A permanent employee working part-time
• Someone seeking a long-term fractional leadership position
• Experienced engineers undertaking postgraduate study who want meaningful work alongside their Masters or PhD

There is potential for the role to continue beyond the initial 12-month period, depending on both business growth and candidate preference.

The Role

Working directly with the founders and leadership team, you will:

• Take ownership of the existing codebase and technical roadmap
• Maintain and improve a modern cloud-based platform
• Deliver enhancements across web, mobile and AI-enabled functionality
• Oversee platform reliability, performance and security
• Contribute hands-on code where required
• Provide architectural guidance and technical decision-making
• Support future hiring and engineering team growth

Technical Environment

The platform has been built using a modern TypeScript stack and cloud-native architecture, with significant AI functionality already embedded within the product. Areas of focus include:

• TypeScript and modern web technologies
• Cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS or Azure experience welcomed)
• AI and LLM integrations
• Agentic workflows and automation
• APIs, backend systems and data architecture
• Mobile application development (nice to have)
