Senior Fullstack Developer - Climate Tech (Volunteer, Denmark/Europe)

Can you help architect the next generation of climate learning tools?

Nordic Waves Group is looking for an experienced Fullstack Developer to join our Greenhouse Calculator team and help us scale a live climate-tech platform powered by AI, climate data, and educational experiences.

Please note: This is an unpaid volunteer role requiring approximately 5–8 hours per week. We are specifically looking for candidates based in Denmark or Europe (CET-compatible time zones).

At Nordic Waves, we are building at the intersection of climate tech, AI, education, and game-based learning. Our two flagship initiatives are:

• Greenhouse Calculator (GHC) – a climate platform helping users understand and reduce their carbon footprint through personalized insights and recommendations (https://greenhousecalculator.com)
• Educational Gaming Universe – a science-based educational ecosystem using games and interactive experiences to improve climate literacy and systems thinking.

The opportunity

You will help evolve the Greenhouse Calculator from a traditional calculator into a broader climate engagement and learning platform. Examples of challenges we're currently working on:

• AI/LLM-powered personalization and recommendation engines
• API integrations and scalable backend architecture
• Carbon and behavioral data modeling
• Connecting calculator outputs with educational game systems
• Product monetization and platform scalability
• Future integrations across our climate-tech ecosystem

Tech stack

• JavaScript / TypeScript
• React.js
• Node.js / Express
• REST APIs / API integrations
• MongoDB

Bonus experience

• AI / LLM integrations (LangChain or similar)
• Stripe, LemonSqueezy, or payment systems
• SaaS product development
• Startup or early-stage environments
• Product commercialization and monetization
• Experience coordinating smaller development teams
