About The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of high-quality, scalable cloud-based backend services. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining core applications that support BlackLine’s suite of financial automation tools. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend developers, and quality assurance, to deliver innovative features and enhancements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software development principles, a passion for writing clean and testable code, and a collaborative mindset to thrive in our Agile environment.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in backend development, preferably with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, is essential. Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, C#, Python, or Node.js are required. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of database systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases, and have experience with version control systems like Git. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are vital for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that support BlackLine’s cloud platform, ensuring high availability and performance. Collaborate with product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices and coding standards. Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge across the team. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application performance, security, and bugs in a timely manner. Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, frameworks, and technologies, and apply them to enhance existing systems. Assist in the deployment, monitoring, and scaling of applications in cloud environments. Document technical specifications, system design, and operational procedures for future reference and onboarding.
