SUMMARY
Nectar Works is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer to join our growing software development team. We’re looking for someone who brings deep technical expertise and a passion for building high-quality, performant, and maintainable software. You’ll be working in a collaborative, agile environment with a strong focus on clean architecture, scalability, and continuous improvement.
WHO WE ARE
At Nectar Works, we’re building a team of passionate creators, engineers and innovators driven to challenge convention. We believe the convergence of gaming, crypto and community is just getting started. We intend to lead the way.
If you’re inspired by open systems, new models of play, and the chance to shape something from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a dynamic, skilled, and enthusiastic Full Stack Developer to join our team. While this is a full stack role, the initial focus will be on the front end of our application, which is built using Next.js.
Our core technology stack includes:
- Node.js / TypeScript / JavaScript
- Next.js / React
- SQL and NoSQL databases
We currently deploy via Vercel, but as the business scales, we plan to migrate to AWS or Google Cloud for greater flexibility.
We do not have a dedicated DevOps engineer at this stage, so the successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and help shape our future infrastructure approach.
Experience with CI/CD tools, cloud deployment, and modern DevOps practices is a strong advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop high-quality, maintainable, and performant code with a strong initial focus on the Next.js front end of our core product
- Take ownership of development tasks across the stack, working as part of a collaborative agile Scrum team
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows. Lead DevOps-related efforts as we scale toward AWS or Google Cloud
- Propose and implement solutions to improve the product’s performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Conduct peer reviews and functionally test your own code to a high standard, enabling smooth QA and release processes
- Collaborate closely with product management and other stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into technical solutions
- Adhere to internal coding and documentation standards, and contribute to improving them where needed
- Help evolve and improve our software development lifecycle (SDLC) through proactive suggestions and feedback
- Actively engage in all Scrum ceremonies: backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Work cross-functionally with teams such as marketing, support, and operations to support business objectives
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices, and help drive technical innovation within the team
- Provide technical mentorship and leadership to less experienced team members
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Legally eligible to work in the UK or Republic of Ireland
- Access to high-speed broadband (>100Mb download / >20Mb upload) — this is a remote working position
- 10+ years of professional experience as a software developer, with strong, hands-on expertise in: TypeScript / JavaScript (ES6+), React.js / Next.js (full-stack Next.js apps with server-side rendering), Node.js (back-end API and integration work)
- Solid experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Proficiency with version control, preferably Git
- Experience working in a Scrum-based Agile environment, balancing speed, quality, and flexibility
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps for task tracking and sprint planning
- Proven ability to operate in a self-directed, remote team environment — you are proactive, collaborative, and take ownership of your tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — clear documentation and team alignment are critical
- A team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to mentor and support colleagues
- Comfortable taking ownership of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows in the absence of a dedicated DevOps function
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent industry experience
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Vercel, or similar
- Exposure to DevOps practices, including Docker, infrastructure-as-code, or serverless functions
- Experience building or maintaining high-performance web applications, including SSR, caching strategies, and API optimization
- Interest or experience in blockchain, crypto, or Web3 technologies. This is not required for the role, but familiarity with the space is an advantage
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Sentry, Datadog, or LogRocket
- Comfortable working in a startup environment, with the adaptability and initiative to contribute beyond narrowly defined responsibilities
