Position Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer specializing in data quality and pipeline management, you will lead the design, implementation, and governance of our large-scale data pipelines and quality systems. Your focus will be on ensuring high-quality ETL processes, robust aggregation logic, accurate data merging, and consistent data quality across multiple categories—including product data, duty information, coupon data, and more—from hundreds of partners worldwide. You will also collaborate with executive leadership to shape the next-generation Merchant Center for partner and feed quality management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Data Quality Ownership: Define and enforce data quality standards, monitoring frameworks, and validation rules across all large-scale data domains, including product metadata, merge quality, store metadata and promotion data, and more.

Data Quality Measurement System: Establish and maintain a comprehensive data quality measurement system covering:

  • Product metadata quality
  • Merge quality
  • Store metadata quality
  • Coupon and promotion data quality
  • Other critical data attributes affecting platform reliability
  • Pipeline Development & Optimization: Design, build, and optimize high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines capable of handling massive data volumes efficiently.
  • Aggregation & Merging Oversight: Lead improvements in large-scale data aggregation, deduplication, and merge logic to deliver accurate and unified datasets.
  • Partner Data Integration: Oversee the integration and synchronization of feeds from hundreds of global partners, ensuring scalability and compliance with ModeSens standards.
  • Merchant Center Development: Collaborate with the CEO and Partnership team to design and implement the next version of the Merchant Center to manage partners and improve the quality of their data feeds at scale.
  • Data Quality Platforms: Build scalable monitoring and reporting platforms to proactively detect, visualize, and resolve quality issues in real time.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Implement automated, high-throughput anomaly detection and alerting systems.
  • Data Governance & Documentation: Establish best practices for data lineage, metadata management, and process documentation for large-scale datasets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, partner, and operations teams to align data quality with strategic priorities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize infrastructure and processes to support growing data volumes and partner expansion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, high-volume data ecosystems across multiple external sources.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Luigi).
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Scala for large-scale data processing.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, aggregation, and data warehouse best practices for massive datasets.
  • Experience establishing data quality measurement systems covering product metadata, merge quality, store metadata, and partner feeds.
  • Experience collaborating with executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve data quality, implement automated monitoring systems, and enforce governance frameworks at scale.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in e-commerce, retail, or fashion technology environments.
  • Familiarity with large-scale merchant center platforms, partner feed management, or catalog standardization.
  • Knowledge of streaming architectures and near-real-time data quality systems.
