VetsEZ is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer with expertise in React/Redux for the frontend and Ruby on Rails for the backend to support a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) project. The ideal candidate will design, build, and maintain scalable applications by developing intuitive user interfaces and robust server-side logic. This role involves integrating APIs, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with software standards. The Senior Developer will also contribute to system planning, deployment, and troubleshooting, while guiding best practices in coding, testing, and architecture. The candidate must reside within the continental US. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Ruby on Rails, React/Redux, and AWS-hosted environments.
  • Collaborate on system requirements, user stories, timelines, and estimates.
  • Establish and promote coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Participate in integration testing, sprint reviews, and documentation (technical, operational, and maintenance).
  • Analyze backend requirements including data flow and system specifications to optimize performance.
  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders to align on project goals and resolve issues.
  • Provide mentorship and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of full stack development experience.
  • Strong experience with Ruby on Rails (backend) and React/Redux (frontend).
  • Experience with AWS cloud hosting, unit testing, and end-to-end testing (e.g., RSpec).
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Scrum processes, and SDLC best practices.
  • Proficiency with Jira, GitHub, Confluence, and version control tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently in remote environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Additional Qualifications

  • Prior federal government experience preferred.
  • Experience working with the VA or other federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with VA.gov platform and government cloud hosting solutions.
  • Proficiency in managing and optimizing RESTful APIs within federal environments.
  • Experience with system integrations such as CorpDB, MPI, BDN, and VBMS.
  • Active or the ability to obtain a government clearance.
