About the Job: We are a software development studio with an all-remote, US-based team of mighty talented developers who actively support each other. We’re looking for a highly communicative freelance professional with good experience in the Android development world. We are looking for candidates who are confident in their abilities without big egos. You should be willing to argue for the best solution, but you do it in a respectable way, and you can accept that sometimes things won’t go your way. We favor personality, attitude & maturity over skill. Requirements: MUST reside in the US mainland and be certified to work in the US, CST zone preferred. Should be currently working as a full time freelancer. Available for meetings 9-5 weekdays CST. 2-4 years’ experience with native Android development in Kotlin and Java. Ability to communicate and articulate concepts and design patterns in software architecture. Optimize the mobile app for code efficiency and run-time performance. Solid development habits, able to write clean code using industry best practices (ie git & git-flow, appropriate commit notes, automated builds, unit testing, etc). Demonstrated knowledge of Material design UI design principles, patterns, and best practices. Team player - explaining things to non-technical people, and give & receive feedback on code with team members of all abilities. Preferences: Helpful to be skilled in SQLite and/or Firebase. Integrating mobile application code with back-end services. Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions and responsiveness. Swift, React Native, Flutter or other surrounding mobile dev technologies. What Might Be Different About Partnering with Lelander: Our Independent Experts are paid an agreed hourly rate, and typically work between 10-30 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed but are flexible depending on the project and desired workload and availability. Lelander’s business hours are 9:00-5:00 pm CST. Our Independent Experts are typically available throughout the workday, but hours can be flexible depending on your project load. Lelander’s mission is to support a network of freelance talent and we look for individuals who are interested in contracting permanently. We are a good fit for those who have tested the waters at agencies or similar organizations and are looking for something with more flexibility in their workday, with the ability to work remotely and have a say in what clients or projects they work on. Our office is headquartered in St. Louis and offers space to anyone in our network who is interested in working here. At the same time, our network of talent is mostly remote and is spread across the continental US, as are our clients. It’s likely you will only work remotely with your team and clients or may attend meetings that are 100% remote.
