Job Title: Front-End Java Developer (Part-Time, 300 Hours/Year) Location: Remote Overview: We are seeking a skilled Front-End Developer with strong Java experience to support a major re-skinning effort of an existing application. This role will focus on modernizing the application s userinterface by updating JSP and tag files with a new design, leveraging CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery, while integrating with the existing back-end. This is a part-time position (approximately 300 hours per year), ideal for a developer who enjoys blending front-end design implementation with Java-based back-end systems. The position can be structured as either W2 employment or a 1099 independent contractor arrangement. Key Responsibilities:

• Implement a new front-end design into existing JSP and tag files.
• Modernize UI/UX elements using CSS, HTML, and native JavaScript/JQuery.
• Ensure smooth integration with the existing back-end application (Java, MVC, Struts, Tomcat).
• Collaborate with the team to migrate old JSP Expression Language (EL) tags to align with the new design.
• Utilize Git and Maven for version control and build management.
• Work with Oracle relational databases as needed to support front-end functionality.
• Maintain clean, reusable, and efficient code while ensuring performance and cross-browser compatibility.

Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 4 6 years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in front-end technologies: CSS (expert level), HTML, native JavaScript, and JQuery.
• Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (MVC, Struts).
• Experience with Tomcat, Git, Maven, and Oracle RDBMS.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a part-time capacity.

Nice to Have (but not required):

• Familiarity with Kuali (training will be provided if needed).
