This is a Process / Plant Operations Engineer (AI Training Specialist) role with Hatch AI based in Sydney, NSW, Australia== Hatch AI ==Role Seniority - junior, mid level, senior More about the Process / Plant Operations Engineer (AI Training Specialist) role at Hatch AI Hatch is looking for process engineering professionals to support an AI research project with one of our partners through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional job. You'll draw on your hands-on experience with process design, simulation, and optimisation to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand process engineering workflows across oil & gas, refining, chemicals, and energy facilities. Note: This role is not with Hatch. It is with a partner AI lab. Key details

• Start: Immediate
• Pay: $65 AUD per hour
• Duration: 3-week project, with the possibility of extension
• Hours: Up to 40 hours per week; no minimum hours
• Location: Fully remote, asynchronous schedule

This is a project-based opportunity that can be done alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment. You will be asked to complete real work tasks in a structured format, independently producing expert-level analytical work using the tools and workflows from your professional practice. This could include building process simulations, developing PFDs and P&IDs, or running mass and energy balances. Requirements* At least 2 years of professional experience in process engineering, in roles such as:

• Process Engineer or Senior Process Engineer
• Plant Operations or Facilities Engineer
• Process Design Engineer or Process Simulation Engineer
• Chemical Engineer in oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, or chemicals
• Or equivalent roles in the energy or process industries

• Ability to independently produce work using one or more of the following tools:

• Aspen
• Haverly GRTMPS
• SuperPro Designer
• AVEVA PI

• Ability to independently complete workflows such as:

• Process simulation and mass & energy balance modelling
• Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development
• Equipment sizing and debottlenecking studies
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline required
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously.
