Role Description

We are seeking a skilled Software Quality Engineer with a strong background in fintech or banking technology and expertise in Datadog monitoring tools. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and an effective problem solver who takes ownership of quality assurance for critical financial systems. This is a full-time remote role for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by conducting manual testing, identifying bugs, and collaborating with the development team to resolve issues. You will create and execute test plans, document test results, and contribute to the maintenance of high-quality software standards. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to implement effective quality assurance processes and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and automated test cases for web and backend financial applications.

Leverage Datadog to monitor, analyze, and investigate application performance and reliability issues; proactively drive improvements based on insights.

Collaborate directly with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps to resolve issues quickly and ensure released products meet strict compliance and security standards.

Participate in the requirements review, code review, and risk analysis stages to ensure quality is baked in from the start.

Identify quality gaps and drive the adoption of best practices across the SDLC, especially as they pertain to fintech/banking regulations.

Create clear and concise documentation of test strategies, processes, and results.

Continuously improve automation coverage, efficiency, and reliability of test processes.

Stay up to date with fintech security requirements, compliance standards, and automated monitoring innovations.

Required Qualifications

Professional experience as a Quality Assurance or Software Test Engineer in the fintech, banking, or a highly regulated technology domain.

Hands-on expertise with Datadog for application monitoring, metrics, and troubleshooting.

Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or similar).

Familiarity with API testing and backend validation in microservice or cloud environments.

Experience in solutions requiring a high standard of security, compliance, and reliability.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve complex technical problems.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience in a startup or rapidly scaling fintech company.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration of QA processes.

Certifications in QA, Cloud Computing, or Fintech Compliance.
