The Role

You’ll be the implementation backbone across our web practice - building polished, performant websites and web applications for a range of clients across industries.

This role suits someone who takes pride in their craft and versatility - someone who can deliver a pixel-perfect marketing site one week, and a well-structured API integration or web app feature the next. You won’t get bored: projects vary, clients are interesting, and the team is best-in-class.

You’re front-end leaning but you don’t stop there. You understand backend patterns, you can own an API route or a NestJS service, and you know how infrastructure fits together. You bring energy to the detail - whether that’s a subtle animation, a well-typed Sanity schema, or a clean deployment pipeline.

We are tech agnostic, however, experience with the following stack will serve you well:

• Front end: Next.js (Typescript) or other React-based frameworks
• Styling: Vanilla Extract or Tamagui
• Infrastructure: Netlify or Azure
• APIs: NestJS, Node.js
• CMS: Sanity / other headless
• DB: Postgres (Supabase) or MySQL (Azure)
• Integrations: vary by client preference. Commonly Google Tag Manager, CRMs like Salesforce or MailChimp, Sentry

This is a permanent role open to candidates anywhere in Australia.

What You’ll Do

On a typical project at DIJGTAL, this role will be responsible for the following.

Implementation

• Build polished front end components and layouts across complex marketing websites and web applications - to a high visual and technical standard
• Design and implement Sanity CMS schemas, content models, and Portable Text configurations for best-in-class authoring experiences
• Implement SEO best practices, 301 redirects, and structured data as advised by the team
• Develop full-stack features across frontends, API routes, data models, and database tables
• Write clean, well-organised TypeScript throughout - on the frontend and backend

Infrastructure & Integration

• Set up and manage deployment pipelines across Netlify and Azure for development, staging and production environments
• Integrate third-party services - GTM, CRMs, email platforms, analytics tools - and own the implementation surface end-to-end
• Contribute to backend architecture discussions and translate requirements into clean, maintainable code
• Support production infrastructure and keep deployment processes reliable and repeatable

Quality & Delivery

• Conduct comprehensive QA across devices and browsers - functionality, responsiveness, accessibility, and performance
• Proactively flag risks, track your own progress, and keep delivery moving
• Hold yourself to a high bar and bring that expectation to the work around you

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Work closely with design, tech, and PM teams to bring ideas to life with high-quality execution
• Align with the Tech Lead on implementation and quality standards
• Communicate directly and proactively with clients and colleagues
• Mentor other developers through code reviews, guidance on best practices, and technical problem-solving

What You Can Bring

• 5+ years of professional web development experience
• Deep expertise in Next.js and React with TypeScript including app router patterns and server vs. client component decisions
• Strong component architecture and reusable pattern thinking
• Hands-on experience with headless CMS including schema design and content modelling, queries and portable text and configuration for a great editor experience
• Backend experience - you can build, own, and maintain an API
• Comfort with deployment infrastructure: Netlify, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, and environment management
• Experience integrating third-party services: GTM, Mailchimp, Resend, or similar
• Strong instincts for quality: performance, accessibility, responsive design, and clean code
• Clear communication and a collaborative, low-ego mindset
• Ability to work autonomously, hold yourself accountable, and ask for help when needed

Nice To Have

• Digital agency or consultancy background
• Hands-on experience with Sanity CMS (GROQ queries, studio configuration etc)
• NestJS experience specifically
• React Native skills and experience working on mobile apps
• Azure cloud infrastructure experience
• Experience with content migration between CMS platforms (e.g. from WordPress or Sitecore to Sanity)
• Familiarity with vanilla-extract, CSS modules, or similar CSS-in-JS approaches
• Familiarity with tamagui or equivalent design system libraries
• Exposure to web app auth flows, form systems, or CRM integrations beyond basic API calls
