Sr. Backend Developer 1 or (2)

Sr. Backend Developer Utah Remote Long term 6+ month contract $50 to $60 per hour DOE Summary We are seeking a Senior Software Developer with strong experience building scalable fintech and payment solutions in modern cloud environments. This role will focus on developing secure, high-performance backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and AWS serverless technologies. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with payment platforms and financial integrations such as Stripe, PayPal, and Modern Treasury, along with a solid understanding of compliance and security standards within regulated environments. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
• Build and optimize APIs and integrations with fintech/payment platforms including Stripe, PayPal, and Modern Treasury
• Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS serverless and event-driven architectures
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and team members to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and performance
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical direction
• Ensure applications meet PCI, SOC 2 Type 2, and SOC Type 1 compliance requirements
• Support security best practices, fraud prevention initiatives, and secure coding standards
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and deployment processes

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience building and maintaining applications using PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly serverless and event-driven architectures
• Prior fintech or payments industry experience
• Experience integrating payment platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, or Modern Treasury
• Understanding of PCI compliance, SOC 2 Type 2, and SOC Type 1 standards
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices

Bonus Skills

• Experience with fraud prevention systems and payment risk mitigation
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Previous experience in highly regulated financial environments
