About the Role
The Product Owner (PO) serves as the voice of the customer and the steward of product value within Agile delivery teams. This role is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and refining the product backlog to ensure alignment with business goals, user needs, and technical feasibility. Operating within the SAFe framework, the PO collaborates closely with stakeholders across business and technology domains to deliver incremental value through well-scoped user stories and features. This position is ideal for a candidate who has experience working in smaller, fast-paced organizations and is comfortable navigating complex systems and ambiguous environments. The PO must possess a foundational understanding of data analysis to interpret metrics, guide prioritization, and support evidence-based decision-making. Success in this role requires a blend of strategic thinking, systems awareness, stakeholder empathy, and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in dynamic, evolving environments.
This position operates on Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours to ensure alignment with core team schedules.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring clarity, prioritization, and alignment with strategic goals
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Participate in PI planning, and Lean Agile events to guide delivery and gather feedback
- Analyze product usage data and customer feedback to inform backlog decisions
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and Agile teams
- Ensure traceability between business objectives, product features, and technical delivery
- Support the development of dashboards and reports that visualize product performance and impact
- Take initiative in identifying opportunities for product improvement and innovation
Qualifications
- Minimum Years of experience required: 3-5 years
- Specific Technical Skills and/or Tools Experience:
- Ability to translate business needs into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria
- Skilled in backlog grooming, prioritization frameworks (e.g., WSJF), and sprint planning
- Familiarity with system architecture and integration points
- Competence in interpreting data trends and framing product decisions accordingly
- Understanding of SAFe ceremonies and PI planning processes
- Applicable Certifications or Licenses: SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification required
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelors Degree
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
- Agile certification (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM)
- 5+ years in product ownership or Agile product management
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
- Experience with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to define product vision and prioritize backlog
- Familiarity with APIs, data models, and system integration
- Strategic mindset with user-centric approach
