Platform Engineer

Senior Platform Engineer - Contract - Remote - £500 per day

Christopher Ali has partnered with an early-stage start-up who are using cutting edge AI to radically revolutionise the way data is presented and collected.

They are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join the team on a contract basis ( 3 months initially).

You will help to build infrastructure and tooling around two core products as well as the web app (maintain legacy system). You will help to transition to modern, maintainable infrastructure while ensuring reliability at scale.

Day to day :

• Lay the foundation for a robust, scalable infrastructure.
• Build a new CI pipeline from scratch.
• Design for scale across Vercel / serverless platforms.
• Safe and reliable migrations: help build team confidence around database migrations, rollbacks and releases.
• Build resilience by designing fallback and failover paths (e.g. if Vercel or OpenAI goes down → use AWS Lambda or Anthropic).
• Help coordinate and run security tests (e.g. pentesting).
• Implement security & data privacy best practices.
• Design infra-as-code that’s maintainable by product engineers.
• Support current AWS (backend) + Vercel (frontend) split.
• Maintain and optimise existing CI pipeline.
• Help simplify Terraform / AWS setup where it makes sense.

Skills needed:

• Someone who can own infrastructure problems end-to-end.
• Experience designing infrastructure that product engineers can understand and maintain long-term.
• Modern tooling expertise: Vercel, PlanetScale, Langfuse, serverless patterns.
• AI infrastructure experience (LLM observability tools etc).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like SST, Pulumi or similar.
