About Bentley Rose
Bentley Rose is a new women’s DTC (Direct to Consumer) eCommerce athleisure apparel company in Orange County. Building an elegant, high‑performing web experience for our customers. We are tightening our design to build pipeline and looking for a developer who understands Shopify code languages to stabilize what’s live and build out new initiatives.
You must be solution driven, always audit your work to prevent accepting trigger actions, take challenges head on, be organized and proficient in the most updated technology for our Ecommerce platform (Shopify). See full Responsibilities and Requirements below.
The Opportunity
Own front‑end development and implementation across web projects from discovery to production‑ready theme code. Near‑term priorities:
- Implement User Interfaces: Write clean code for visual and interactive website elements.
- Responsive Design: Ensure website’s look and function well on desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize website for fast loading times and smooth operation.
- Accessibility: Make website usable for people with disabilities.
- API Integration: Connect the front-end to backend systems to fetch and display data.
- Cross-Browser Compatibility: Test and ensure consistent functionality across different web browsers. Must be prudent in always auditing your work to prevent accepting trigger actions that impact the website without knowing.
- Build custom landing pages and custom product page sections and templates aligned with Shopify’s best recognized best practices.
- Custom development work must support essential apps (analytics, email, reviews, subscriptions) and support native Shopify structure for updates.
What You’ll Do
- Lead quick discovery from internally provided visual examples and assets to development through delivery.
- Create reusable components and document usage.
- Design and build end‑to‑end: take work from wireframe to Liquid/HTML/CSS/JS.
- Shopify theme development: Liquid & JSON templates, Sections/Blocks, Metafields, App Blocks, Online Store 2.0 architecture.
- Front‑end engineering: semantic HTML, modern CSS (utility/tokens), JavaScript/TypeScript for interactions and light app logic.
- App & API integrations: configure common apps (e.g., Klaviyo, reviews/UGC, subscriptions, search/filters, chat) and work with Storefront/Admin GraphQL/REST when needed.
- Performance, accessibility, quality: Lighthouse passes, WCAG 2.2 AA fixes, cross‑browser/device QA, error‑proofing.
- Collaborate in GitHub (branches/PRs/reviews) and iterate quickly using QA and analytics.
- Propose and run lightweight validation (prototype tests, click/scroll maps) and A/Bs.
What You’ll Bring (Requirements)
- 5+ years developing and building modern, responsive websites in Shopify.
- Portfolio with 3 - 4 case studies showing a problem, your process, and outcome. Include code samples. Must provide references for highly trafficked revenue websites.
- Shopify theme development experience (Liquid, JSON templates, Sections/Blocks, Metafields, App Blocks; OS 2.0).
- Front‑end coding: HTML, CSS (utility‑first or BEM), JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Comfort working in GitHub (feature branches, PRs, reviews) and collaborating.
- Data‑driven, analytical and logical mindset; ability to use data to drive decisions and adjust strategy.
- Superior organization & project management; can effectively manage multiple projects, deadlines, and communication lines.
- Razor‑sharp attention to detail and end‑to‑end systems thinking.
- Highly collaborative; develops strong partnerships with technical, strategic, and creative stakeholders.
- Core Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Frameworks/Libraries: React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar.
- Tools: Version control (Git), build tools (Webpack, Vite), testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress).
- Design Principles: Understanding layout, color, and user experience.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and debugging abilities.
Nice to Have
- React for richer components where appropriate, familiarity with JSON schema for Section settings.
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop/Illustrator) for asset prep and image treatments.
- Experience with WordPress or Webflow.
How We’ll Work
- Cadence: Weekly planning check‑in; async collaboration in Figma/GitHub/issue tracker.
- Timezone: Collaboration overlaps with Pacific Time PST) business hours.
- Tooling: Figma for design; Shopify for theme work; GitHub for version control; Google Drive for docs.
- Process: Scope to UX/UI to build in a feature branch to preview/staging to QA/perf/accessibility
