Senior Machine Learning Expert (AI Training)About The Role What if your deep expertise in machine learning could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems reason through complex problems? We're looking for Senior Machine Learning Experts to author high-fidelity reasoning traces — the structured, step-by-step thinking patterns that teach LLMs to plan, use tools, and make reliable decisions in real-world scenarios. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for senior ML professionals who want to do meaningful, intellectually stimulating work on the cutting edge of AI development.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Author complex, high-fidelity reasoning traces that capture how an LLM should plan, reason, and act step by step across sophisticated technical tasks
  • Design structured traces that document tool use, decision-making, and problem decomposition in clear, logical detail
  • Review and provide expert feedback on traces authored by others, ensuring quality, consistency, and reliability
  • Develop data strategies that help LLMs navigate intricate real-world scenarios with greater accuracy and dependability
  • Apply senior-level ML architectural insights to improve how models reason across challenging, open-ended problems

Who You Are

  • Experienced machine learning engineer or researcher with a strong background in model reasoning, evaluation, or training
  • Skilled at breaking down complex technical problems into clear, structured, logical steps
  • Familiar with advanced LLM evaluation and training methodologies
  • Detail-oriented with a systematic approach — you care about getting things precisely right
  • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a remote, task-based environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality systems, or AI evaluation pipelines
  • Top-tier Kaggle competition results (Grandmaster or Master level) demonstrating deep understanding of model performance and feature engineering
  • Hands-on experience designing or auditing training datasets for large language models
  • Background in AI safety, alignment research, or RLHF workflows

Why Join Us

  • Work on frontier AI projects in collaboration with the world's leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you, at 10–40 hours per week
  • Freelance autonomy with intellectually rich, high-impact work that goes far beyond typical contract gigs
  • Direct, tangible influence on how the next generation of LLMs thinks, plans, and reasons
  • Exposure to advanced model training methodologies at the forefront of the industry
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
