The Role
We are seeking a high-performing Senior Bookkeeper / Client Account Manager with strong experience within a bookkeeping or accounting practice environment.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of clients as their primary point of contact while overseeing and reviewing the work completed by supporting bookkeepers assigned to your client files.
You will be responsible for end-to-end bookkeeping, payroll, BAS and IAS preparation, reporting, workflow management and proactive client communication, while also providing guidance, support and mentoring to team members to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and to Accounts All Sorted standards.
This role suits someone who is highly organised, proactive, confident communicating with clients and capable of managing multiple priorities within a structured remote team environment.
This is a casual role to commence, with the opportunity to transition to permanent (full time) after 3 months based on performance and mutual fit.
Approximate hours during the probation period will be 30–38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility within standard business hours.
Key Responsibilities
▪︎ Manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients as the primary client contact
▪︎ Oversee and review work completed by supporting bookkeepers
▪︎ Provide guidance, mentoring and support to bookkeeping team members
▪︎ Ensure client work is completed accurately, efficiently and on time
▪︎ End-to-end bookkeeping across multiple client files
▪︎ Bank and credit card reconciliations
▪︎ Accounts payable and accounts receivable management
▪︎ Payroll processing in Xero, including STP, superannuation and leave management
▪︎ BAS and IAS preparation and lodgements
▪︎ Financial reporting including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and cash flow reporting
▪︎ Manage and work within Karbon workflow systems
▪︎ Use and support various Xero add-ons including Dext, Deputy, ServiceM8, Stripe, Square and similar platforms
▪︎ Maintain strong client relationships through clear and professional communication
▪︎ Identify issues proactively, follow up outstanding information and help keep client work progressing efficiently
▪︎ Support process improvement initiatives and internal workflow efficiencies
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
▪︎ Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience
▪︎ At least 3 years’ experience within a bookkeeping or accounting practice
▪︎ Experience managing multiple clients across different industries
▪︎ Experience supervising, mentoring or reviewing the work of bookkeeping team members
▪︎ Strong proficiency in Xero, including payroll and reporting
▪︎ Solid understanding of Australian BAS, GST, payroll and superannuation compliance
▪︎ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
▪︎ Strong organisational and time-management abilities
▪︎ High attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work
▪︎ Confidence managing client relationships and following up outstanding information
▪︎ A proactive, solutions-focused and tech-savvy approach
▪︎ Ability to work independently within a remote team environment
▪︎ Residency in Australia with full working rights
▪︎ Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting (essential)
▪︎ Experience using Karbon or a similar practice management system (essential)
▪︎ Registered BAS Agent status or eligibility is highly regarded
