Data Engineer - $62.50 - $76.92 per hour

About the Role

This opportunity is for a Senior Data Engineer to help build and evolve a modern data platform, including scalable pipelines, data warehouse architecture, lakehouse strategy, governance, and quality frameworks. The role focuses on developing reliable data products and setting strong modern data engineering standards across the organization.

This position partners closely with Product Engineering, DevOps, InfoSec, Data Science, Analytics, and business teams to ensure the right data is available, modeled, consistent, accurate, secure, and ready to support reporting, discovery, analytics, and product needs.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines and systems across the data stack.
• Contribute to and champion the organization’s data lakehouse strategy.
• Shape how data products are designed, developed, documented, and maintained.
• Help establish modern data engineering standards and best practices across the organization.
• Build frameworks and standards that ensure data is accurate, well-documented, trustworthy, and governed at every layer.
• Continuously evaluate and improve data solutions for performance, cost, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Partner with Data Science, Analytics, and business teams to develop pipelines, data models, metric definitions, and semantic layers.
• Ensure data remains consistent, accurate, accessible, and ready for meaningful analysis and discovery.
• Balance speed and scale by recognizing when to ship pragmatic solutions and when to invest in more durable systems.
• Clearly communicate technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Embrace AI-assisted development workflows and stay current on modern data tooling.
• Help the team continuously raise the bar for data engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or a closely related field.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Comfortable working across the full modern data stack.
• Hands-on experience with modern data tools and platforms such as Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
• Experience building data pipelines on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform.
• Experience with change data capture and event-driven data patterns.
• Solid understanding of modern warehouse and lakehouse architecture.
• Strong understanding of data modeling fundamentals, including Kimball dimensional modeling and medallion design patterns.
• Experience with data quality frameworks and governance practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with AI-driven development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or similar tools integrated into daily engineering workflows is a bonus.

Base salary range: $130,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience.
